The conservative government are acting conservative with respect to law and order, but when it comes to big government, their spending plans far outweigh their cuts. I want a tax cut for the full amount of the surplus plus more. I want the tax cut to be accross the board, for all income earners. David Janes has written an open letter:
Dear Conservative Party of Canada,
I'm indifferent to rolling back (or not) various social engineering programs of the last decades. However, if your plan is to actively make Canada a worse place to live in by having more government busybodies measuring our lives against some half-cocked socialist measuring stick, I'll be more than happy to site at home and watch Simpsons re-runs on election night. And I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Regards,
David
PS. Do you actually this believe this is a good idea, or would convince a single person to vote for you?
UPDATE: Now the conservative government is going to start taxing Income Trusts ... what is the difference between these guys and the Liberals when it comes to the economy? Sure income trust distribution is taxed in the hands of the individual unit holders and not at the corporate level (simplification) but the investors are aware of this and they have the option of getting out of the trust if they do not like the option. If the government thinks that this is unfair ....how I'm not sure, they can cut income taxes. The lowering of corporate income taxes is welcome (all tax cuts are welcome) but the excuse that it levels the playing frild is nonsense. This is an indirect subsidy to those corporations to encourage investment where there are not sound reasons for investment.
